Paying the CCP to Open a Michigan Front

An Update on the Gotion Travesty

WASHINGTON — There is growing concern in states across the country that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is acquiring fertile farmland and other real estate nationwide. And rightly so. After all, as more than 110 Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC) webinars have abundantly demonstrated over the past 18 months, the CCP is at war with America. Only those with a death wish or betraying our country can be indifferent to that reality.

Individuals who are actually enabling such acquisitions by our mortal enemy and the penetration they inevitably entail are especially deserving of critical scrutiny and corrective action. A prime example is Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who has made over $700 million in funding and various concessions available to subsidize the construction of a massive lithium battery manufacturing facility in the pristine heart of her state by Gotion, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of a militantly Chinese Communist Party company called Gotion High-Tech.

The CPDC will update its previous examination of this fraught initiative in the Committee’s next webinar, Paying the CCP to Open a Michigan Front: An Update on the Gotion Travesty,” from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. ET on Friday, September 22nd. It will review the concerted efforts of patriotic Michiganders and their own and other Members of Congress to reverse Gov. Whitmer’s reckless decision.

A formidable panel will assess the dangers posed by this Chinese gambit and others like it to the environment, safety, and security of both the immediately affected population and the nation as a whole.

This CPDC webinar will also consider the failure to date of federal, state and local authorities to respond to official and popular demands for reviews of the likely environmental impact and the potential threats to a nearby National Guard facility (where Taiwanese troops are being trained) and an array of other possible targets. Finally, our panelists will discuss some inspiring successes achieved by the resistance to Gotion’s penetration in Michigan and by efforts to block a similar CCP menace to Grand Forks, North Dakota, and its strategic Air Force base.
