Oh, Canada:

The CCP’s Subversion of Our
Northern Neighbor – and Us

Insights About Elite-Capture and Influence Operations
on Both Sides of the Border

Thursday, March 21, 2023
1:00 -2:15 p.m. ET

Recent revelations by former Canadian intelligence officers indicate that, in the 1990s, American counterparts raised alarms about the Chinese Communist Party’s penetration and “capture” of governmental and private sector elites in Canada posing a threat to both countries. A U.S. initiative code-named “Project Dragon Lord” and a Canadian one called “Sidewinder” were ignored, allowing the CCP threat to metastasize dramatically to the profound detriment of the national security north and south of the border.

The insights being offered into the extent of the “elite capture,” election interference, transnational criminal activity, corruption and subversion in a key allied nation affords a profoundly important case study of the CCP’s “unrestricted warfare” that has, if anything, taken an even greater toll in the United States. The intensifying debate in Canada about the harm done to date, both that now in evidence and that yet to be fully revealed, makes plain the need for a similar and comprehensive damage-assessment in this country, as well.

The next Committee on the Present Danger: China webinar will take stock of what we can learn from the CCP United Front Work Department’s successes in Canada and the corrective actions required on the part of both of these “Five-Eyes” partners to root out enemies within and secure their democratic polities. The webinar will occur from 1-2:15 p.m. ET today.
