Secure Freedom Minute: Will Kamala Further Fracture NATO’s ”United Front”?

By

Vice President Kamala Harris has been dispatched to buck up our NATO partners on the alliance’s eastern front lines. The effect is likely to be further signs of diminished confidence in the United States and slip-sliding away from confrontation with Vladimir Putin’s Russia over Ukraine.

For example, on the eve of Harris’ trip to Poland, Warsaw offered to send 28 of its old Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. air base in Germany in exchange for more modern American ones. Washington has nixed the idea, declining to transfer the MiGs onward to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Germany has refused to end its perilous dependence on Russian energy imports. With the Ukrainians negotiating what sounds like their inevitable surrender to Putin, expect more such fractures in NATO’s “united” front – especially in the wake of Kamala Harris’ practice of off-putting and incompetent diplomacy.
